Today is the birthday of Adrienne Norris, the fabulous mother of our fave, Jada Pinkett Smith, and grandmother of Willow — they call her “gam.” Despite the fact that she doesn’t look a day over 50, the beauty is actually turning 65 today. Can you believe it?!

It’s quite the wonder when you consider that the mother of two spent quite a few years battling with drugs, in particular, heroin addiction.
“I couldn’t hide the unmanageability of my life, and the emotional damage and the spiritual damage I did to myself and to her,” Norris said about parenting Jada while addicted on the family’s Facebook Watch show, Red Table Talk. “That was devastating. I abused drugs for over 20 years.”
She initially got off drugs, for a man of all reasons, but would eventually get serious about staying clean thanks to her faith in God.
“I had to come to the understanding that there was a power,” she said. “That God had been looking out for us, you and me both, through all of that. And I just had to let go and surrender so I could receive what he was trying to give to me, through other people.”
She’s been clean for many years now, and after so much time of doing harm to her body, she’s prioritized her vessel big time. Norris works out consistently, and has become a major fitness inspiration for women of all ages.
