Atlanta Population Grew 29% Last Decade
(Atlanta Business Chronicle) — Atlanta had the eighth-highest population boom from 2000 to 2009, according to revised population figures released Friday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The Big Peach added 122,099 residents — a 29.2 percent jump — in the nine-year period for a population of 540,922 in 2009. That growth ranked Atlanta 33rd among 19,507 places.
