SNL Adds First Black Comic Since 2003
(News One) — EW.com reports that Jenny Slate, who joined Saturday Night Live in 2009, will not be returning this season. The Washington Post notes that among the newbies announced yesterday by NBC, Jay Pharaoh, a 22-year-old comic from Chesapeake, Va., is the first black addition to the cast since Kenan Thompson in 2003. He flew up to New York last month and got the good news two weeks ago after meetings with executive producer Lorne Michaels and the show’s writers, says the Post.
