This Georgia Mother Makes Custom Wigs For Children With Hair Loss
Medical conditions like cancer, alopecia and others cause little girls to have hair loss or no hair at all. Though hair doesn’t make you beautiful, not having any at such a young age can make a little girl feel like an outcast. Quilla Bohannon, a single mother in Georgia who designs wigs, decided to help those little girls by customizing wigs just for them.
“I’m really about building confidence, not tearing children down,” Bohannon told FOX 5 Atlanta. “They deserve to feel like everyone else.”
So far, Bohannon said she has made over 1,200 wigs for children and isn’t slowing down.
“It can take a toll on [my] body but the kids inspire me,” she said told 60 Sec Docs.
Bohannon was able to create a buzz via social media and now requests for wigs for kids are overflowing in her inbox. Though the demand is high, it costs to be able to supply her customers. Since wigs are costly, she gifts little girls with their custom wigs free of charge. But in order to make these wigs, she needs the hair, caps, needles, beads and other supplies to put smiles of those little faces. To help keep her in business, she started a fundraiser called Free Wigs For Kids which you can donate to on GoFundMe.
