Love and Hip Hop Hollywood star Lyrica Anderson has an impressive resume, no doubt.
She’s worked with and written for some of music’s greatest talents including Beyonce, Timbaland and Demi Lovato.
But her mother, Lyrica Garrett is the musical matriarch of the family and has an impressive resume of her own. Garrett, whose real name is Marcy Thomas, was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and discovered her love for music as a schoolgirl. She was so musically inclined at a young age that she served as the musical director of a youth choir at age 12.
When she was merely a teen she caught the eye of Tina and Ike Turner who moved Garrett to California and eventually brought her along for their world tour as a member of the Ikettes. She eventually left the Ikettes and joined the psychedelic soul group, The Undisputed Truth.
In 2006, Garrett and Ike Turner did a multi-city concert tour where she sang lead on Ike and Tina’s greatest hits.
She still enjoys showing off her range and often freestyles songs in the front seat of her car, or sings along to our favorite R&B jams. Sometimes her daughter joins along for the ride too.
Now while most of this was lost on us because of her shenanigans on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, the woman can definitely sing. Here are some of her best #carconcert moments.
