Taraji P. Henson Talks Wedding Plans and Celebrity Guest List

Taraji P. Henson is getting married next summer to her fiancé Kelvin Hayden and we’re so excited for the actress!  Madame Noire had the opportunity to catch up with the Empire star who was in Detroit with Marriott for their #LoveTravels Beyond Barriers, an initiative by the hotel chain focusing on celebrating and supporting all kinds of people through love.

Henson and I got together and talked just that: love…and of course the conversation went to her wedding. While she’s still planning, I prodded regarding her guest list. Who doesn’t love some Taraji P. Henson wedding guest plans?!  Which of her celebrity girlfriends will be in attendance? Keep on reading to find out!

Henson continued, “Regina King, of course!” The two have known each other for years and sparked a viral meme in 2016 when King won an Emmy and Henson jumped up clapping in genuine support. The friendship is real, y’all!

And don’t you worry, her co-stars from Hidden Figures can be expected to be seen in plain sight. Henson also dished “Octavia and Janelle because they know him.” We love all the Black excellence that will be in the room to support her soon to come union!

If you think for a minute that Henson is a bridezilla, think again. She nonchalantly stated, “That’s only if they have time. I don’t want to pressure people into coming. It’s literally basically for my family and my friends.” The D.C. born star revealed, “We’ll probably do a reception for everybody else every else who couldn’t make it and LA for all my celebrity friends. The wedding, I kinda want to keep it stress-free.”

Don’t expect to see a lot of celebrities at Hensons’ wedding. She admits, “I don’t want my family freaking out because celebrities are there.” The down to earth star is aware of her not so down to earth life. “That day is about me and my future husband!” she states, then laughs.
