City to Create ‘Name Registry’ for Homeless
(Chicago Sun Times) — It’s one thing to count the number of homeless people living on the streets of Chicago. It’s quite another to convince them to identify themselves and answer detailed questions about their desperate straits.
More than 120 volunteers will hit the streets and homeless shelters next week to try and do just that. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m., they’ll attempt to create, what Mayor Daley calls a “name registry” of homeless Chicagoans.
