The recent headlines for rapper Nicki Minaj have definitely been less than positive, courtesy of her online antics, rants about album sales and beef with other celebrities. However, a fan recently got the “Chun-Li” rapper to admit something about her hair — her natural hair.
Nicki Minaj is known for her plethora of colorful wigs, near floor-length bundles, and all around outlandish hairstyles, but when a fan on Twitter recently posted a collage of some of her memorable hairstyles, Minaj jumped in to comment that she has been wearing her natural hair in plain sight for years, specifically on the 2016 VMAs red carpet.
If you’ll recall, during the 2016 ceremony Minaj was dating fellow rapper Meek Mill and they graced the red carpet together with Minaj wearing a plunging blue bodycon dress. Her hair was parted down the middle and worn straight, grazing her waist. Well, she has now revealed that was actually her natural hair and she has been growing it out underneath her wigs for years.
Minaj tweeted about the moment her natural hair was “born” on the red carpet:
When another fan posted pictures of her hair and requested a natural hair update, she simply replied “K,” while retweeting a GIF image of herself at the 2016 VMAs showcasing what we now know was her natural hair.
This is actually not that hard to believe. Anyone who is familiar with protective styles like wigs and weaves knows that if you properly care for your natural hair underneath, it can grow pretty long. This is especially true when you’re a celebrity and have access to the best hairstylists and products to ensure your hair is in the best condition.
Tell us, do you think Nicki Minaj’s natural hair is to her waist? Or did she sneak in a few inches?
