Algee Smith Laid In A Casket For Hours While Filming "The Hate U Give"
Algee Smith Had To Lay In A Casket For Hours While Filming The Hate U Give
Algee Smith is a man of many talents. The charismatic young actor had the perfect set of singing and dancing skills to play Ralph Tresvant in BET’s New Edition Movie last year. And when we saw him take on the dramatic role of Larry Reed in Detroit, we knew he was more than just a cute face. The boy has serious acting abilities (and a cute face).
Now, Algee is gearing up for the release of yet another racially and politically charged film showing his serious side. On October 19, The Hate U Give, an adaptation of Angie Thomas’ novel of same name, will hit theaters, telling the story of a young Black girl who finds her voice after her childhood best friend (Algee) is shot dead by a police officer. It goes without saying that this movie took an emotional toll on the cast, and Algee told us the hardest part of filming for him was having to lay in a casket for hours filming the funeral scene. Check out what he had to say about his latest role in the video above.
