Did Nicki Minaj & Hairstylist Kim Kimble Go Their Separate Ways?
Did Nicki Minaj & Her Longtime Hairstylist Kim Kimble Go Their Separate Ways?
Word around the Internet is that rapper Nicki Minaj has cut ties with noted celebrity hairstylist Kimberly Kimble. The tea comes after Bossip‘s report that Minaj went on a firing spree and got rid of her whole glam team.
On Sunday, the rapper posted a video of herself rocking a rainbow wig on Instagram followed by a caption that hinted at the idea of Kimble no longer putting her fingers through Ms. Minaj’s mane. In the caption, Minaj gave thanks to stylist Dionte Gray, known as “Tae,” who works out of Atlanta and Chicago. She also shouted out makeup artist, Aaliyah Jay, who did her face.
She followed up the video with a Tweet saying she hit up Tae because her fans had been pressing her to do so for a while. He was able to create the rainbow wig she had been envisioning for herself for sometime.
A recent post by Bossip also noted that Kimble and Minaj are no longer following each other on social media, which usually sends a smoke signal into the atmosphere that there’s a fire somewhere.
And to add even more gasoline, Kimble began following Minaj’s unofficial arch nemesis, Belcalis Almanzar, otherwise known as Cardi B.
But, as you well know with any Internet beef, there’s layers to this.
Stylez used to be Minaj’s hairstylist up until a year ago. Days after the VMAs, when a fan criticized Cardi’s awards show look, which he did, Stylez, in turn, took the opportunity to call out the “thin a– ponytails” Minaj wore to the show. It was a specific dig at Kimble’s work.
Kimble hit back by saying that Internet cred does not a licensed hairstylist make.
We hope that Kimble and Minaj are able to bury the beef because we hate to see two Black women on their hustle at each other’s throats.
