Heat Causes Major Power Outages
(Washington Informer) — Pepco Region President Thomas H. Graham, along with Pepco spokesman Bob Hainey held a press conference at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Tue. July 27, to further detail the company’s continuing efforts to restore power to thousands of area residents and businesses since volatile heat and storms swept through the area. It could take days to restore power to hundreds of thousands of people in and around Washington after a storm downed power lines and trees and left four people dead.
Graham said that regional utility Pepco reported more than 232,000 customers were still without power in Washington and neighboring Maryland counties. Because the damage was so widespread, it was unclear when most people would get their power back, Hainey said.
