Y’all want to know something? Recently, I’ve been noticing more and more celebrities wearing black. I know it’s not an anomaly or a strange thing to see a chic all-black look (especially if you’re in New York), but…it’s spring! A few weeks back, I had posted an all-black ensemble on my Instagram, and though well-received, my friends thought it was weird for me to want to go all-black and mysterious while the trees are blooming and the birds are singing:

But now, I’m seeing more celebrities go for all-black everything, illustrating that all black is the new black. At first, I thought I was trippin’, but nah, people are out here loving their black fits against the spring! I think people stray away from a black ensemble because they think that it can be underwhelming up against a powerful, vibrant color like a red, yellow, or green. But in case you think an all-black look is bland, or boring, or just dry, think again. I’m going to show you celebrities who prove that an all-black look seriously never goes out of style.

Tracee gave us full on’80s vibes on set and even behind-the-scenes.

TEYANA TAYLOR

Y’all know Teyana was a tomboy and she definitely proved that an all-black look with some kicks will never do you wrong.

AMANDLA STENBERG

Amandla just always gives me smooth LA vibes and I think a look like this rings true.

CYNTHIA ERIVO

Erivo stepped out for the Tony Awards in this vintage draped piece, and quite honestly, stole the show and our hearts.

CIARA

Ciara has perfected the long dress and those angles, especially in black.

RIHANNA

When launching Savage x Fenty, Rihanna had to give us naughty but chic. What better way than with black?

GABRIELLE UNION

If you’re struggling with all-black, pop a bit of color or print in there! It’ll immediately brighten up the mood.

LALA

Blazer. Lace bra. Pants. That’s all I’ll say. It’s a lewwwwwk, and thank you Lala.

KAHLANA BARFIELD-BROWN

Ever thought about pairing a crop hoodie with a high-waist designer skirt? Bet you didn’t until now.

BEYONCÉ

Queen Bey gave us nuanced Black Panther out here, stuntin’ from every way and every angle.

AURORA JAMES

Daytime events can even have an all-black vibe, especially when celebrating irreplaceable friends.

TESSA THOMPSON

Remember when Tessa Thompson shook us all up with her beautiful outfit at the Met Gala? High-class chic but with a bit of whimsical nature.

LUPITA NYONG’O

Lupita looks good in everything. I get it, however, here she shows us that black doesn’t have to be outdated on the red carpet.

TARAJI P. HENSON

Aunty Taraji gave us full auntie-vibes while out with her little fluffer and fluffy sandals. Hey, I love this look because you can easily throw on some sandals with your fit and you’re out the door!

KELLY ROWLAND

And of course, we gotta show off our boo Kelly Rowland, who not only gave us real ’70-vibes with this fit, but showed how you can really make your SHOE the statement-maker and it won’t subtract.
