It’s not everyday one can publicly announce “Every n-gga is a star” — on their satin belt no less — but at CFDA anything goes. And when you’re the host, you can do what you wanna do.

That’s exactly what Issa Rae did last night when she hosted the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards in Brooklyn. The sentiment she expressed on her belt, which perfectly complemented her custom Pyer Moss gown we must add, was taken from the title of Jamaican singer Boris Gardiner’s song which played during the Pyer Moss fall/winter 2018 fashion show. And it was the perfect phrase to note the high fashion that adorned the carpet during the awards show Monday night. Click through to see all the Black celebs that shined.
