Microsoft and D.C. Announce Partnership
(Washington Informer) — The Fenty Administration committed to strengthening the local workforce, today announced a major public-private partnership between Microsoft and the District of Columbia, to provide free technology training to individuals. Through its Elevate America initiative, Microsoft is partnering with the D.C. Department of Employment Services to donate 11,250 vouchers for no-cost, online technology training and certification.
“Technology training is essential for job seekers in today’s economy,” said Joseph P. Walsh, Jr., director of DC’s Department of Employment Services. “Whether you are looking to compete for a job in the large and fast growing IT sector, trying to improve your skills working in job that increasingly uses technology, or just trying to gain the skills you need to search and apply for a job on-line, these skills are essential. Microsoft’s Elevate America program will make a significant difference in preparing job seekers for opportunities in today’s competitive marketplace.”
