If you’re doing these things, you’ve become a bridezilla

No bride will admit that she is a bridezilla, and yet, we know bridezillas exist, so somebody’s lying out there. The issue is that, once bridezilla mode has set in, the bride has lost all ability to self-reflect, to consider her actions, and to think that maybe she is wrong sometimes. That’s exactly how she became a bridezilla in the first place, but it’s what makes it even harder for her to recognize that it has happened. Why should you care if you’re a bridezilla, you ask? It is your day afterall, right? Yes. It’s your day. But you may have been making the 365 days leading up to that day your year, and that’s more than you’re entitled to. Furthermore, you should know, that couples do break up over wedding planning and friendships do fall apart over bridezillas. So, if you’re doing these things, you’ve become a bridezilla.

You lose it if someone asks you for a favor

If someone asks you for a favor, you cannot believe that they would even consider taking up any of your precious energy when they know all you have going on with the wedding. Oh, okay, so everyone can help you with the planning but you can’t reciprocate?

You don’t know what’s happening in your friends’ lives

You have no idea what’s happening in your friends’ lives because you just talk the entire time you see them, and about the wedding. Recently, your memories of them involve them just nodding and smiling a lot. Oh, and suddenly needing to leave early.

Your partner or parents have taken out a loan

Your partner or parents have taken out a loan to afford the things you want for your wedding. That’s just not right. Take the smaller venue, for goodness sake.

You say, “It’s MY DAY” a lot

If you’ve heard those words come out of your mouth at least once a day lately, you’re in full bridezilla mode. You can’t just say “It’s my day” any time anybody even slightly contests something you want.

You speak to your bridesmaids like a drill sergeant

You boss your bridesmaids around, and give them orders as if they’re being paid for this. They’re not. And you don’t even say thank you.

You’ve been seeing your therapist more

You’ve noticed that you need to see your therapist a lot more than you used to. In fact, she’s on speed dial. But she’s not picking up.

Your friends feed you alcohol

Your friends seem to have a glass of wine in their hand, for you, the moment they see you. Honestly, they can’t stand you, and just hope to get you so drunk you stop speaking.

This is pretty damn rare. Don’t see this as a small deal. If a bridesmaid has quit, you need to reflect on your actions.

Your mom has suggested you postpone the wedding

Aka you clearly cannot handle the pressure of planning a wedding right now (because you’re acting like a bridezilla) and everyone could use a break from your attitude.

Your vendors have become conveniently unavailable for your calls. They’ll miss your call, and then just shoot you a text asking what’s up.

You’ve forgotten weddings aren’t a real problem

You actually think that a florist or DJ being unavailable is a real problem. World hunger is a real problem. Bullying is a real problem. The fact that you’ll have to settle for white roses is not a real problem.
