Teddy Pendergrass has been gone since 2010. But there’s a good chance that because of the on-going drama between his children and his late wife, Joan Pendergrass, he hasn’t exactly been at peace. In the years since he passed his son Theodore Pendergrass II and his daughters La Donna Hollerway and Tishia Burnett have been fighting over the will.
After Pendergrass senior died from respiratory failure in 2010, his will stated that he left his entire estate to his wife. But his son forged another will stating that everything was going to go to him.
Eventually, the courts determined that it was fake.
Now, Pendergrass’ widow, Joan is suing her stepson for the trickery.
Her lawsuit states, “The illusion and fantasy created by Theodore, Jr. and propagated by his lawyers forced Mrs. Pendergrass to undergo years of turmoil and anguish as her relationship with her late husband was unmercifully scrutinized.”
The battle between Pendergrass’ children and his widow lasted nearly six years, cost Joan $850,000 in legal fees. She’s also suing for humiliation, diminished reputation, emotional distress and anxiety.
Joan is suing Theodore, La Donna, Tishia and each lawyer who represented them during the various court battles.
