Jesse Jackson Calls For A Nationwide BP Boycott
(Ebony Inspired) — Reverend Jesse Jackson says BP is not moving aggressively enough to save the gulf from the oil spill there. The Rainbow PUSH Coalition led a rally at a BP station in Chicago Monday. Organizers are calling on citizens to fight back with larger protests in response to the spill that has damaged the shoreline and the fishing industry. Reverend Jackson says he wants people to raise their voices against what he calls a society dominated by unregulated corporations. “We’re saying that people should not pay the bill for the spill. and to buy gas at bp is to subsidize their reckless behavior,” said Rev. Jackson. A BP’s executive in charge of fighting the spill said today he knows people are frustrated… and the company is doing everything it can.
