Men say they’d love a casual sex situation—they say that finding a woman who just wants a physical relationship, with no strings attached and no emotional commitment, would be their dream scenario. But, when push comes to shove and one-night stand comes to two-month fling, I’ve found that a lot of guys aren’t that great at casual sex situations. The truth is that, while may think they want a casual sex setup, oftentimes, they can’t really handle or wrap their heads around the fact that women want this, too. It’s a catch-22. They want a booty call but they don’t want a woman who wants that. I’m not quite sure how they can be happy that way. Here is why men can’t really handle it when you want a pure, casual sex relationship.
They want you to want more
Men, subconsciously, want the women they sleep with to want more than just sex. I don’t know if it’s an ego thing or just that they have it in their heads that all women want relationships. But when a woman honest to goodness doesn’t want a relationship, it makes them go, “Well, hang on. Why not? I’m a catch!” Ugh. Can we not?
They either act like a boyfriend
A lot of guys don’t really understand that if you’re going to keep this casual, you can’t call your booty call after a hard day at work, or ask her to bring you soup when you’re sick. You don’t get those privileges with a casual sex thing.
Or they blow it on common decency
Some men go the complete opposite direction. They psyche themselves out trying not to act like a boyfriend that they over-correct and act like a dick. So then the women they’re sleeping with call the whole thing off, because the guy couldn’t simply get out of bed to walk the woman to her car. Screw that.
They’re possessive of your body
Men really don’t like the idea of other men traveling their road, playing with their toy, eating their cookies…you get the idea. They don’t like to share! It goes back to their caveman days when they needed to make sure nobody else slept with the same woman they impregnated, which would make the “who is the daddy” thing very complicated in a day of no DNA tests.
They’re terrible planners
In case you haven’t noticed, men are terrible planners. They’ll message you five minutes before they want to meet up. They don’t have their car—they left it in some far away lot earlier that night, not at all thinking about the fact that they may need it later. You’re far across town, tipsy and not willing to pay for a pricey Uber because he never mentioned he’d want to meet up until now. It’s a nightmare.
Emotionless sex gets boring
The truth is that the only thing that keeps sex engaging is emotions. There are only so many things you can do—so many new toys and positions to try. When the novelty of the physical element wears off, you need the emotions to keep you coming back for more.
They don’t go to the doctor enough
Men are not on top of their physical health nearly enough to carry on casual sex relationships. They don’t go in for their checkups. They don’t get weird rashes checked out. They don’t get tested for STD’s on the regular. They aren’t responsible enough for booty call relationships.
They become biologically protective
Men are truly biologically predisposed to be protective of the women they have sex with. They’re designed to care about the ladies they plant their seeds in. They can’t help but develop a little attachment.
They try to date at the same time
Women are usually smart enough to end their casual sex relationship if they start dating somebody. Men, however, make the mistake of trying to carry on the booty call thing along side a new relationship as long as possible. This tends to blow up in their faces.
They instinctively turn to women for nurturing
Men cannot help but want nurture from women. Their mothers are women. Their grandmothers are women. They’re biologically designed to seek out nurture from females. So that’s why they accidentally ask their booty call to comfort them when they’re sad or give them a confidence boost before a big meeting. The problem is that those are girlfriend tasks.
They talk too much
Maybe men could carry on casual sex setups, flaws and all, if they’d just shut up about them. Women don’t want the men they’re sleeping with telling everyone they’re sleeping together. If men didn’t feel the need to brag about their hookups, maybe they could keep them longer.
They forget to buy condoms
Guys suck at buying the basics. They’re always out of hand soap, foil, and condoms. And quite frankly, you can’t carry on a casual sex relationship without condoms and the women get tired of buying them.
They call when they’re drunk
Your equipment doesn’t work when you’re drunk, fellas, and you’re sloppy at foreplay. If you want a successful booty call situation, you need to stay (reasonably) sober.
Men love to cuddle
Yes, they do. Admit it. Men love to cuddle. They love it! They can’t help themselves; after casual sex, they get a cuddle going. It complicates things.
They get jealous
Men get very jealous. They can’t let sleeping dogs lie. They start thinking about the fact that you, their booty call, is out at a bar flirting with other men. Why are you doing that? What do those men have to offer that they don’t? These guys get in their own way, and start making passive aggressive comments about the other dudes in their booty call’s life. It’s unattractive.
