If you’re lactose intolerant, then chances are, you’ve tried a whole host of milk options on the shelves and in the fridges to find something that won’t upset your belly. The common replacement for the regular options is usually almond milk. However, I had the chance to try milk made from macadamia nuts recently, and I think I might have found my new dairy-free alternative.

Milkadamia
Milkadamia is a new drink made from raw macadamia nuts that are grown in Australia by the Jindilli Family Farms. The raw option, as opposed to roasted, results in a creamier drink than some of the usual suspects. However, it’s just like the rest — gluten-free, soy-free, non-GMO, vegan, cholesterol-free and full of all the vitamin D and B12 you need.
I actually tried both the original flavor, as well as the unsweetened vanilla and was impressed with them. I used the original flavor in a kale, strawberry, banana, blueberry and peanut butter (powder) smoothie and it had a rich, sweet flavor I wasn’t expecting — a pleasant surprise. It’s a delicious dairy-free option to add to your refrigerator.
Milkadamia can currently be picked up at stores like Whole Foods, Segway, Meijer, Safeway and online via Amazon and Jet.com. It will also be available in Walmart refrigerators in January.
But macadamia nut milk, as unique as it is, is not the only dairy-free plant-based milk out there. Check out a few other choices for those who don’t easily digest regular milk.
