There’s a good chance your first introduction to Emani Virgil was on this season of “Iyanla: Fix My Life.” Emani is the wife of former Hot Boys rapper Turk but she has a story all of her own outside of the marital issues she explored on the OWN show with her husband: She’s a breast cancer survivor.
Just one year after giving birth to twins, Emani casually felt across her breast and noticed a lump. When she went to see her doctor, the wife and new mother found out she had Stage IIa breast cancer and soon after underwent a double mastectomy. Three years after her diagnosis, Emani talked to us about her treatment experience and her journey to healing.
