Giant Stock Losses Can Be Avoided, But There Are Drawbacks
(USAToday.com) — If you’ve ever been hit by a car, you know that a number of things go through your mind as you’re being hauled off to the hospital: What if I had left work 3 minutes earlier? What if I had looked both ways? What if I hadn’t bet my friend I could get across the street without being hit by a car? Stock market investors are probably asking somewhat similar questions after getting whomped by Thursday’s 1,000-point flash crash. The most likely question: Is there any way I could avoid getting run over again?
